The Higher Education Authority- HEA- says it will start deregistering institutions of higher learning that enroll students who do not meet the minimum entry requirements.
HEA Director General KAZHILA CHINSEMBU says the institutions are abrogating the law by claiming to provide opportunities to the youth by evading the Higher Education Act.
Speaking at a media briefing, Professor CHINSEMBU said fraudulent admission of students into college will be met with the full force of the Higher Education Act and its subsidiary regulations.
Meanwhile, HEA Director Quality Assurance, MARTIN MUSHUMBA has disclosed that colleges will only be allowed to provide diplomas as the highest qualification in line with the new regulations.
And, HEA Acting Manager Standards, Research and Institutional Audits DENNY NSOKOLO said Universities or technical universities can now apply for registration only after operating as a higher education institution for a minimum of five years.
