“ID Mismatch causing delays in Cash for Work Payments”
By Masauso Mkwayaya
The Chikankata Town Council says inaccurate identification details and phone numbers submitted by some beneficiaries under the Cash for Work Programme are causing delays in paying them on time.
Council Public Relations Officer, NAMASIKU NJOVU, says the Council has faced challenges paying some people via Mobile Money because their details do not match the names on their NRCs.
In an interview with ZNBC News in Chikankata District, Ms. NJOVU said registered names of beneficiaries should match those on their Mobile Money accounts.
She has urged those affected to verify their details to enable the Council to make timely payments.
Meanwhile, BEATRICE MWENDA, a mother of 11 who also cares for 5 dependents, is one of the individuals engaged under the Cash for Work Programme in landscaping work at a school.
Ms. MWENDA said after losing all her crops due to last season’s drought, the programme is helping her buy food for her family.
Another beneficiary, BORNIFACE MUDENDA, 57, said before the project, he struggled to provide for his family.
