The Israeli and Tanzanian medical teams, who came for a one week camp at the National Heart Hospital in Zambia, have successfully performed 12 open-heart surgeries.
The medical teams from Wolfson Medical Center and the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute conducted the procedures on children with heart conditions.
Paediatric Cardiologist LWARA KALEMBE says despite a few patients failing to show up due to logistical issues, the camp was deemed a success with zero mortality rates.
In an interview with ZNBC News, Dr LWARA said that a notable case involved NANCY TEMBO a 32-year-old Lusaka based woman with a rare heart condition, who underwent a successful operation.
