The Judicial Complaints Commission -JCC- has concluded the hearing of the complaint against three Constitutional Court Judges.
The hearing started on Monday 14, October 2024.
During the hearing the commission heard the defence from three affected Judges ANNIE SITALI, MUGENI MULENGA and PALAN MULONDA.
The Commission also subpoenaed Constitutional Court president MARGARET MUNALULA and her predecessor HILDAH CHIBOMBA.
Earlier, the Commission heard the testimony of a petitioner MOSES KALONDE who is Youth Network against Corruption Executive Director.
The three Constitutional Court Judges were suspended on September 23, 2024 by President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA based on the Judicial Complaint Commission’s recommendations.
On Friday, an attempt by the three Constitutional Court Judges to challenge their suspension through Judicial Review failed after the LUSAKA High Court threw out their application.
A panel of High Court Judges comprising Judges CHARLES ZULU, CHILOMBO MAKA and TWAAMBO MUSONDA ruled that the High Court lacked jurisdiction to hear their application as the issues raised are a preserve of the Constitutional Court.
