JJ Banda Arrested

Fugitive Petauke Central Member of Parliament EMMANUEL BANDA has been arrested in Zimbabwe.

Mr BANDA has been on the run since escaping from lawful custody on August 4th, this year.

Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister JACK MWIIMBU says Mr. BANDA was arrested yesterday in Harare in a flat which he was renting.

Mr. MWIIMBU says the lawmaker is now detained by the Zimbabwean Police and he will be handed over to Zambian authorities once the extradition process is completed.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka this afternoon, Mr. MWIIMBU said government wants Mr. BANDA to return home to face justice.

Mr. MWIIMBU says government started the extradition process with Zimbabwean authorities two weeks ago as they already knew where he was hiding.
