JOEL MONDOKA put to rest

Government has described ZNBC Sign language interpreter JOEL MONDOKA as a passionate man who wanted to bridge the information gap.
Information and Media Permanent Secretary, THABO KAWANA says Mr. MONDOKA made sure that the hearing impaired were informed.
Mr. KAWANA says government is with the MONDOKA family through this period of grief.
He disclosed this in a Facebook post monitored by ZNBC news in Lusaka.
And ZNBC- Director of Programmes NGENDA KAMAYOYO said Mr. MONDOKA was a key team player who brought accessibility and inclusivity to the National Broadcaster through his sign language interpreting skills.
Mr. KAMAYOYO said Mr. MONDOKA’s skills helped break down barriers and take programming to a wider audience.
He said this during a funeral Service for Mr. MONDOKA at the United Church of Zambia – UCZ Saint Mark’s Congregation in Lusaka’s Chilenje Township.
And in his homily, UCZ Synod Communications Secretary DYSON GOMA encouraged the congregants to imitate the life of Mr. MONDOKA who used his talent to speak for the marginalized in society.
Meanwhile, Zambia National Association of the Deaf Representative MUKUMA CHIKWATWA has described the death of Mr. MONDOKA as a big loss, as he did not only equip them with information but also drew them closer to God.
