Judiciary challenged to be professional
By Blessings Chibuye
Good Governance and Human Rights Activist SIKAILE SIKAILE has called for professionalism among members of the judiciary saying the nation expects them to serve the citizens with diligence.
Mr. SIKAILE says the judiciary must be aware that sooner or later they will be held accountable for their actions if they are self-serving.
In a statement to ZNBC News in LUSAKA,MR SIKAILE has warned that a weak and compromised judiciary is susceptible to external influence as has been the case in the past.
Mr. SIKAILE has also called on the Law Association of Zambia and other legal bodies to remain impartial and safeguard constitutional values.
He has further commended the current administration for recognizing the need to address the weaknesses in the constitution and working to reinforce judicial independence.
Mr. SIKAILE said laws should not be manipulated for immediate gains but should instead be strengthened to ensure justice and stability that extends beyond the tenure of any single administration.
He expressed optimism that ongoing efforts will lead to sustainable policies that uphold the rule of law, regardless of who is in power.
