KABUSWE Urges Mopani to Pay Fair Rates

Mines and Minerals Development Minister PAUL KABUSWE has urged #Mopani Copper Mines in Kitwe to pay local contractors and suppliers the correct rates.

Mr. KABUSWE says contractors and suppliers are entitled to their dues, as such must be paid in accordance with the labour laws.

Speaking at a meeting with Mopani Mines Management, contractors and suppliers, Mr. KABUSWE further called on those that may have grievances to do so through the right channels.

And, Copperbelt Province Minister ELISHA MATAMBO said he will keep track of timely payments of contractors and suppliers, adding that provision of better contracts will be addressed.

Meanwhile, Presidential Advisor – Economic Affairs #JITO KAYUMBA said mine contractors are not contracted dubiously, but instead based on their qualifications.

Mr. KAYUMBA emphasized that the UPND Government does not condone corruption as this compromises quality of work.
