Kalengwa mine reopened after being closed for 46 years

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has reopened Kalengwa mine which was closed for 46 years.
President HICHILEMA says it is unbelievable that those that were in power and are seeking public office now failed to open Kalengwa mine.
He has apologized to the people of Mufumbwe on behalf of his predecessors for neglecting the mine.
The Head of State has thanked the people of Mufumbwe for their trust in the UPND for 23 years and that the reopening of the Euro Africa Kalengwa Mine is their reward.
Speaking during the official reopening of Euro Africa Kalengwa Mine today, President HICHILEMA said his government has an agenda to develop Zambia.
And Euro Africa Kalengwa Mine said it has invested over US$20 million in the new Euro Africa Kalengwa Mine in Mufumbwe District of North Western Province.
Euro Africa Kalengwa Mine Board Chairperson ALLAN DAVIES said the mine anticipates starting production early next year.
Euro Africa Kalengwa Mine vice Board Chairperson MULONDWE MUZUNGU said the people of Mufumbwe are grateful to President HICHILEMA for exploiting its copper resource through Euro Africa Kalengwa mine.
Meanwhile British High Commissioner to Zambia SAM WALDOCK said the reopening of the Mine is a clear demonstration of the progress made in Zambia’s mining journey since 2021.
