Kasanda Awards K2.4m in Empowerment Grants
ZANIS –Chisamba Constituency Member of Parliament, Chushi Kasanda, has awarded 2.4 million Kwacha in empowerment grants to 62 women and youth clubs.
This is under the 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Speaking during the handover, Ms. Kasanda said the local authority has awarded grants to a total of 62 clubs and cooperatives comprising women and youths across the district.
She says the recipients of the grants will engage in various income-generating activities such as livestock farming, fish farming, and gardening.
Chisamba CDF Committee Chairperson, Tamenji Palale, says the increased CDF allocation is enhancing socio-economic transformation in the district.
One of the beneficiaries, Agnes Tembo of Latter Rain Church Co-operative, thanked the government for extending the empowerment grants to churches.
Pastor Tembo, whose cooperative was awarded a 40-thousand Kwacha grant, said the team will start rearing chickens for sale and use the profits to support orphans and vulnerable women in their church.
Kuzu Sikanyele, a youth beneficiary, said her cooperative will be rearing goats for sale, thereby sustaining themselves as opposed to engaging in illicit activities.
