Over 120 pupils who were learning in a grass-thatched structure at Kasangani Primary School in Chama District, Eastern Province, now have a modern one-by-three classroom block.
In an interview with ZNBC News, Chama Town Council Assistant Director of Engineering, Mofwe Kaonga, said the classroom block, completed in 2024, was constructed using the 2023 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocation.
Mr. Kaonga said the project was implemented in collaboration with the local community, who built the structure up to the ring beam level before the council took over to complete the school at a cost of 290,000 Kwacha.
Acting Head Teacher Caren Nalungwe said the new classroom block has created a conducive learning environment for the pupils.
Ms. Nalungwe also said the school has received 60 desks.
