Kasune to Present Clauses Proposed for Amendment
By Sharon Siame
Justice Minister PRINCESS KASUNE will this week present selected clauses proposed for amendment and the roadmap.
Chief Government Spokesperson CORNELIUS MWEETWA says what is being proposed is not the repeal of the whole Constitution but selected articles.
Speaking at a Media Briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. MWEETWA also said that there is no clause that prohibits the amendment of the Constitution ahead of a general election.
He said Cabinet which sat yesterday resolved that there will be no constitutional Review Commission as the country is still under a national disaster following the 2024 drought.
And the Chief Government Spokesperson said 41,916 teachers have been recruited since President HICHILEMA came into office and that all these have been placed on pay roll.
Mr. MWEETWA noted that Government is making progress in recruitments and fulfilling President HICHILEMA’s electoral promises.
Meanwhile, the Chief Government Spokesperson said the Ministry of Home Affairs has recruited 10, 949 officers in the various departments in the last 3 years.
He further said that the Ministry of Health has employed 20,254 health workers.
