Kawambwa Chiefs Call for Peaceful Pambashe By-Election
By Chembe Mbale
Traditional leaders in Kawambwa district have urged political players participating in the Pambashe by-election not to transport cadres from other regions into Kawambwa District.
Sub-Chief Kabanda says this will help prevent political violence and ensure a peaceful electoral process.
The Sub-Chief says chiefs in the district want to maintain a calm atmosphere that will allow voters to exercise their democratic right without intimidation.
Senior Chief Mushota added that the violence that characterized some elections in the recent past was a result of the transportation of cadres from other regions.
The traditional leaders made these remarks ahead of the by-election, which will be held next month in Pambashe Constituency.
Earlier, ECZ Commissioner McDonald Chipenzi urged traditional leaders not to be partisan.
