Kawana challenges journalists to reclaim position in international awards
By Ruth Chayinda
Information and Media Permanent Secretary, Thabo Kawana, has challenged journalists in the country to improve the quality of reporting so that they can participate in international competitions.
Mr. Kawana says this will allow Zambian journalists to reclaim their position on international platforms.
He said this when he launched the 2025 SADC media awards.
The Permanent Secretary also urged private media houses to participate in such competitions alongside the public media.
He said it has been observed that the private media rarely participate in such competitions.
One of the recipients of the SADC award last year, Nathan Banda, encouraged journalists to participate in the competition.
