KCM scales up copper production to 8,000 mt

Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) has increased production to 8,000 metric tons over the last five months, securing more than 12,000 jobs.
KCM Board Chairman Moses Banda says all work streams are progressing as planned in line with the shareholders’ agreement and the implementation roadmap.
Speaking to ZNBC News, Dr. Banda highlighted key milestones achieved since Vedanta Resources assumed management in August 2024.
These include a 20 percent salary increment for employees, a one-off bonus payment, and consistent, timely disbursement of monthly salaries.
Dr. Banda also reiterated KCM’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, noting that Vedanta has pledged 20 million dollars annually for community development projects through the KCM Community Development Trust.
He also disclosed that the company has invested over 2.2 billion Kwacha in procuring goods and services in the last five months, reinforcing its dedication to empowering Zambian businesses and driving economic growth.
