
“Key Constitutional Amendments Must Be Undertaken”
Governance expert, Ngande Mwanajiti says Zambians have rejected destructive propaganda, and speculation that is speaking against the proposed constitution amendment.
Mr Mwanajiti says while a full constitutional overhaul can wait, key amendments are urgent and must be undertaken.
He says Zambia’s constitutional journey has been riddled with missed opportunities, often derailed by partisan politics and weak leadership.
Mr Mwanajiti has since urged Justice Minister Princess Kasune to release a clear roadmap on Constitutional amendments .
And Mr Mwanajiti says the shift in economic fundamentals, including closing financial leakages, has led to temporary challenges, but that they are part of a larger, positive transformation.
He says Zambia is steadily recovering from a severe economic crisis caused by past mismanagement.
This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC News by Mr. Mwanajiti.
And Governance Activist CHOOMA MWACHIKOKA has endorsed the proposed constitutional amendments.
Mr. MWACHIKOKA believes this will strengthen Zambia’s Judiciary and Executive .
In an interview with ZNBC News ,Mr.MWACHIKOKA emphasized the need for an inclusive Constitution that promotes participation of women, youth and people with disabilities.
Mr. MWACHIKOKA has called for support of the proposed constitutional amendments which has sparked a nationwide conversation.
