Lawyers challenged to Curb understatement of productions in the mining sector.
Mines and Minerals Development Minister, PAUL KABUSWE, has urged lawyers to help the government curb the understatement of productions in the mining sector.
Mr. KABUSWE says there is a need to ensure that mines or people involved in mining declare the correct amounts of what they have mined so that the country benefits from its mineral wealth.
He has, however, assured the nation that the government is committed to ensuring that the country’s mineral wealth is managed prudently.
Mr. KABUSWE says this is why, for the first time, the government has established the Minerals Commission to regulate the mining sector, while the Geological Act, which he says was passed into law, last week, will help curb illegal gold mining.
Speaking when he officially opened the 2025 Law Association of Zambia – LAZ Annual Law Conference, Mr. KABUSWE, welcomed intentions by LAZ to participate in Zambia’s mining space.
The 2025 LAZ Annual Law Conference is being held under the theme; Law, innovation and economic development: spotlighting the mining sector.
