UPND National Youth Chairperson GILBERT LISWANISO says yesterday’s Constitutional court ruling demonstrates the rule of law in action.
Mr. LISWANISO says former president, EDGAR LUNGU, should now embrace his role as a former head of state.
He has also appealed to fellow youths across the nation to show respect for LUNGU.
At a media briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. LISWANISO further called on the civil society, the church and other stakeholders to reach out to LUNGU to encourage him to fulfill his role effectively.
And North Western Province Council of Elders spokesperson KENNETH KAPATA has called on former president EDGAR LUNGU to respect the decision of the Constitutional Court.
This is after the Constitutional Court yesterday ruled that the former President is not eligible to contest elections after serving two terms in office.
Mr. KAPATA told ZNBC News that Mr. LUNGU should respect the rule of law and avoid inciting his followers by suggesting that there is a plan B to the Constitutional court ruling.
And the UPND in North Western Province has held a solidarity march in support of the Constitutional Court ruling on the Presidential eligibility case.
UPND Provincial chairlady SAMWATA MANYINGU said the party is happy that the eligibility case has been settled through the courts of law.
And PF North Western Province Chairperson ENOCK KAPALU says the party will respect the decision of the Constitutional Court and focus on rebuilding itself.
