LUNGU urges patience on Constitution Amendments
By Mark Ziligone
Special Assistant to the #President for Policy and Compliance, JOSEPH LUNGU has called on Zambians to allow sufficient time for the Ministry of Justice to draft the #Constitution Amendment Bill.
Mr. LUNGU says this is to ensure that it outlines the specific changes to be made to the country’s Constitution.
He says at this stage, government has not yet finalised the specifics of the amendments.
Mr. LUNGU adds that while 13 areas of concern have been identified for potential revision, the exact amendments are still being formulated.
In a statement to #ZNBC News, Mr. LUNGU said it is crucial for the Ministry of Justice to carefully draft the Bill, ensuring that it reflects the views of various stakeholders, experts, and the general public.
Mr. LUNGU further explained that the current constitution amendment process differs significantly from Bill 10 which was proposed by the previous administration.
He said unlike #Bill 10, which came with a set of predetermined amendments, the current process is more open and inclusive.
This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC News by Mr. LUNGU
