Lusaka Woman and Children Arrested After Husband’s Skeletal Remains Found
A 51-year-old woman and her four children have been apprehended in Lusaka in connection with the death of her husband.
This is after police discovered skeletal remains of her husband inside her house in Garden Compound, almost one and a half years after his family could not establish his whereabouts.
The remains of the deceased, identified as George Kalaba, were found lying on a bed, reduced to a skeleton, suggesting that he had been dead for a significant period.
The deceased man’s family had allegedly been querying about his whereabouts since July 2023, but the woman used to refuse them access to him.
Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, has confirmed the matter, which was earlier reported yesterday as a case of a missing person by the deceased man’s elder brother.
Mr. Hamoonga has further identified the suspects as Sylvia Mutoba Kalaba, the deceased man’s wife, and her children, Natasha, aged 19, Sandra, aged 22, Wendi, aged 27, and a female juvenile.
He has explained that when a follow-up on the matter was made after it was reported, police officers found that the woman and her children had locked themselves inside the house together with the skeletal remains.
