The Luanshya Magistrate Court has sentenced former Kabushi PF Member of Parliament BOWMAN LUSAMBO to two years imprisonment with hard labor.
Luanshya Magistrate, PENISTONE CHILUBA delivered the judgment this morning.
The sentencing follows an incident on April 11, 2019, when Lusambo attacked National Democratic Congress -NDC- Member STANLEY MUSUKWA 58, with a machete.
On Friday, a bench warrant was issued against LUSAMBO by the Luanshya Magistrate Court following his conviction for unlawful wounding in absentia.
Meanwhile the Luanshya Magistrate Court has denied bail pending appeal to Mr LUSAMBO.
Luanshya Magistrate PENSTONE CHILUBA delivered the ruling on the bail application after the state had objected to the application arguing that LUSAMBO was a flight risk.
But defense lawyers JOSHUA NJOVU from JK legal Practitioners argued that their client was not at any point a flight risk.
