Maamba Collieries secures $300m for expansion Project

Maamba Collieries Limited has secured financing for the construction and installation of an additional 300 megawatts power plant, under Phase 2 Project of its expansion plan, set to begin in August 2024 and complete by July 2026.
And Maamba Collieries Limited has already signed a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement with ZESCO Limited for the phase two project.
The 400 million U.S Dollar project, with 300 million U.S Dollars financed through a debt consortium, will add two 150 Megawatts generating units, doubling Maamba collieries capacity.
The Phase Two Plant will be identical to the current operation and will
consist of two generating units of 1 50 Megawatts each, increasing the total number of generating units to four.
The new plant will utilise existing auxiliary facilities for support infrastructure such as the transmission line and coal preparation plant.
