‘Mai Guru’ fights deforestation

Popular Zambian actress Wanga Zulu is calling on Zambians, especially women, to embrace safer methods of cooking away from the use of charcoal.
Ms. Zulu, who is famous for her role as Mai Guru on a television series called Mpali, told ZNBC that women will be key to minimizing charcoal-motivated deforestation.
She said Zambians have seen the adverse effects of climate change, which have affected key sectors of the economy like agriculture and tourism.
Ms. Zulu, who is also a brand ambassador for the USAID Alternatives to Charcoal project in the country, said a lot is at stake if people do not change their mindset on charcoal.
