World Bank Vice President SAMUEL MAIMBO has officially launched his candidacy for the Presidency of the African Development Bank -AfDB.
Dr. MAIMBO is offering a dynamic and transformative vision for Africa’s future economic prosperity.
He says the launch marks the beginning of a campaign focused on accelerating Africa’s growth, reducing poverty, and fostering regional integration across the continent.
At a media briefing, Dr. MAIMBO said his candidacy has already garnered significant regional support, with both the Southern African Development Community -SADC- and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa -COMESA-officially endorsing his bid.
Dr. MAIMBO, an esteemed expert in development finance, stated that Africa stands at a critical crossroad, where opportunities for economic advancement are immense, but so too are the challenges.
He said his vision for the AfDB focuses on creating an Africa that is economically empowered, self-sufficient, and resilient to global challenges.
Dr. MAIMBO also said despite Africa possessing 60 percent of the world’s uncultivated arable land, its agricultural sector remains underdeveloped.
