Maize imports from Tanzania on course – FRA
By Penlope Sikazwe
The Food Reserve Agency -FRA- has received 10,000 tonnes of maize from Tanzania since the imports started coming into the country.
This is after Zambia entered into an agreement with Tanzania this year to buy 650,000 metric tonnes of maize from that country to cushion impact of drought.
FRA board Chairperson SURESH DESAI says the exercise is quickly gaining momentum and stocks are arriving by road and rail.
Mr DESAI says the FRA is expecting to secure over 20,000 tonnes into the country in the next couple of months.
He was speaking to Journalist in Monze where he is monitoring the ongoing FRA community sales exercise.
