Ministry of Agriculture Disburses Over 28 Million Kwacha in SAFF Loans

The Ministry of Agriculture in Luapula Province has disbursed over 28 million Kwacha to farmers under the Sustainable Agriculture Financing Facility (SAFF) loan program.
Speaking at a media briefing in Mansa, Luapula Province Permanent Secretary Mighty Mumba revealed that as of February 2025, the province had received 5,053 loan applications from farmers.
Mr. Mumba says of these, 701 applicants have successfully secured loans amounting to 33.3 million Kwacha, with 28 million Kwacha already disbursed.
Mr. Mumba also revealed that the SAFF loan facility has been expanded in scope to include funding for mechanization, livestock production, as well as irrigation and fish farming.
He said the Provincial Administration and the Ministry of Agriculture are actively working to expedite loan disbursements by financial institutions while addressing any challenges in the process.
The SAFF initiative aims to enhance financial access for farmers, fostering sustainable agricultural practices and boosting productivity in the country.
