Ministry of Finance spent K15.9 billion in September

Finance Minister SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE says government is laying a firm foundation for a prosperous and sustainable future for the country.
Dr. MUSOKOTWANE says this is through building resilience for inclusive growth and improved livelihoods in a manner that no one is left behind.
He says government has re-established credibility with the rest of the world by achieving significant milestones in resolving the external debt burden.
This is contained in a statement issued to ZNBC news.
And the Ministry of Finance and National Planning spent 15.9 billion Kwacha to finance developmental programmes and public service delivery in September.
Of this amount, 5.1 billion Kwacha was released for transfers, subsidies and social benefit.
The Treasury also spent 1.9 billion Kwacha for the implementation of various developmental programmes and general operations, while 524.5 million Kwacha went to capital expenditure.
Four point three billion Kwacha was released for the public service wage bill, and 4.1 billion Kwacha was spent on debt service and arrears.
The treasury also released a total of 5.1 billion for transfers and subsidies which include social cash transfer and Grant Aided Institutions in Government.
246.3 million Kwacha was spent on Constituency Development Fund –CDF- for community projects, while 145.4 million Kwacha was for operations of public universities, and student loans and scholarships.
The Treasury says it also released 1.9 billion Kwacha to facilitate implementation of programmes and other general operations under various government institutions.
The Treasury also released a sum of over 524 million Kwacha towards capital expenditure, with 279.7 million Kwacha given to the Rural Electrification Authority REA, while 200 million Kwacha went to on-going road infrastructure projects.
