The Ministry of Water Development has received 13.2 million dollars from the African Development Bank to finance water projects in Lusaka and Kabwe.
The project is called ‘Improving Access and Strengthening Innovations for Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in Kabwe Town and Bauleni Township.’
Water Development Minister, Collins Nzovu, says the water supply infrastructure, which includes a reticulation network, will be reinforced in Bauleni.
Mr. Nzovu says the project will benefit 160,000 people in Bauleni compound in Lusaka.
In Kabwe, Central Province, the works will include the rehabilitation of the Mulungushi water treatment and the development of five new boreholes in Kalulu and Mukobeko areas.
Mr. Nzovu says the project, which is expected to create 465 jobs during its four-year construction phase, will also strengthen the technical and financial viability of Lukanga and Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Companies.
