Mongu Police intercept 491 bags of Eagle mealie meal

Police in Mongu District have intercepted 491 bags of Zambia National Service (ZNS) Eagle Mealie meal.

The mealie meal was hidden in a makeshift shop under Lubosi Imwiko Bridge on the Mongu-Kalabo road.

The mealie meal was intercepted around 22:00 hours after a tip-off from members of the public.

Western Division Police Commanding Officer, David Chileshe, told ZNBC News that officers will ensure that security measures are strengthened in order to curb the smuggling of the ZNS Eagle Mealie meal.
