“Most Girls in Livingstone get Pregnant by age 18”
The Livingstone District Health Office is concerned that most girls in the district are becoming pregnant by the age of eighteen.
Livingstone Principal Nursing Officer, EDWIN KASHIKA, says the situation is worrying because it results in most of the girls dropping out of school and succumbing to early marriages.
Mr. KASHIKA said this in Livingstone at the Solutions for Healthy Adolescents and Rights Protection-SHARP- annual reflection meeting.
And Livingstone Mayor CONSTANCE MULEABAI said there are many challenges affecting the girl child such as limited access to education and knowledge on adolescent sexual and reproductive health.
Ms. MULEABAI said many girls in Livingstone lack access to accurate information on sexual health.
