Mother and daughter drown in stream

A woman and her 15-year-old daughter have drowned in Katozi stream in Nakonde district, Muchinga province.

TAMARA NAKAWALA, aged 35, and her daughter, BRENDA NAMBEYA, met their fate, when the Katozi stream burst its banks, following a heavy downpour.

ZANIS reports that the woman had gone to th stream with her 2 daughters to wash clothes but when it started raining, the trio sought shelter under a nearby culvert bridge.

While under the bridge, a strong water current swep the woman and the 2 daughters, dragging them downstream, however one of the girls, identified as FAVOUR, managed to pull herself out of the water.

And after an extensive search, the bodies of the woman and the 15-year-old daughter, were found trapped in tree branches along the stream, 2 kilometres from where they were swept from.
