Mposha warns against encroachments on protected areas
Government is concerned with the continued encroachment on protected areas on the Copperbelt by private developers.
Green Economy and Environment Minister MIKE MPOSHA says it is sad that local authorities appear to be supporting illegal activities in protected areas.
He says Chichele and Masansa Forest reserves have been encroached and the councils are not doing anything to stop the illegality.
Mr. MPOSHA has warned people that have built in protected areas such as the Monkey mountain in Ndola that the law will visit them.
And Mr MPOSHA has also called on mining companies in Ndola to practice sustainable mining practices and avoid encroachment of protected areas.
And Micro Link Mine Manager, JOSEPH MANYEPA says the mine is yet to start mining and prioritizes protection of the forest reserves especially the Zaffico plantations.
