Mpox Patients in Kitwe Discharged from Hospital

All three patients who were recently diagnosed with Mpox in Kitwe have been discharged from hospital.
Kitwe District Health Director FRANCIS LIYWALII has disclosed that as of January 23, 2025, the district was MPOX-free but remains vigilant.
Dr. LIYWALII gave the update during the MPOX sensitisation programme held at Kitwe City Council today.
He also disclosed that over 100 community health volunteer workers have been trained to help in fostering community sensitisation regarding MPOX and Cholera.
Dr. LIYWALII said the discharge of the three patients is a significant milestone in efforts to combat Mpox in the city.
And Dr. LIYWALII said one out of the three MPOX cases could be sexually related or transmitted.
Earlier, Kitwe District Health Promotions Officer, ETHEL BWALYA advised community members to adhere to set prevention measures outlined to prevent MPOX.
