Muchima applauds Pharmacists

Health Minister Elijah Muchima has applauded pharmacists across the country for their pivotal role in strengthening the nation’s healthcare system.
In a speech delivered on his behalf by the Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary, Dr. Kennedy Lishimpi, Dr. Muchima emphasized the vital contributions of pharmacists in ensuring access to essential medicines and driving sustainable healthcare solutions.
He also commended the Pharmaceutical Society of Zambia (PSZ) for its leadership and urged them to enhance collaboration with researchers, policymakers, and private sector stakeholders to address the country’s health challenges.
Dr. Muchima made these remarks during the PSZ gala dinner held in Lusaka last night.
Meanwhile, PSZ President Keegan Mwape described 2024 as a transformative year for the pharmacy profession, highlighting key achievements such as the launch of the local Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Strategic and Implementation Plans.
He encouraged pharmacists to remain united and to focus on shaping healthcare policies and practices to advance universal health coverage.
The gala dinner also celebrated outstanding contributions to the pharmacy sector.
The Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) was honored as Media House of the Year for its role in promoting healthcare awareness.
Dr. Larry Mweetwa was named Pharmacist of the Year, while Sandra Mukokobi received the Young Pharmacist of the Year award.
