Muchima concerned with low rate of death registration
By Alice Lubasi
Health Minister ELIJAH MUCHIMA says Zambia has a very low rate of death registration.
In a speech read on his behalf by Director Infectious Diseases LOYD MULENGA, Dr. MUCHIMA said the gap is particularly acute in rural and under-served communities.
This was during the launch of the Zambia Sample-Based Registration System -SRS- and the Multi-sectoral Mortality Surveillance Strategic Plan.
The projects are aimed at uncovering the medical and social determinants of mortality, enabling targeted interventions that address root causes.
And Zambia National Public Health Institute -ZNPHI-Director General ROMA CHILENGI said the launch is a significant step toward strengthening the nation’s capacity to understand and respond to health challenges.
