The installation of new equipment at Mulungushi Textiles for the first production line of Chitenge fabrics is nearing completion.
The Center for Trade, Policy and Development -CTPD- has praised government for ensuring that the reopening of Mulungushi Textiles is not linked to elections.
CTPD Executive Director ISAAC MWAIPOPO says reopening the company well ahead of an election gives hope that it will create tangible opportunities for people in the district and beyond.
Speaking to ZNBC News in Kabwe, Mr. MWAIPOPO said the Mulungushi Textiles will create employment opportunities for the people of Kabwe.
And, Zambia China Mulungushi Textiles General Manager, Brigadier General EMMANUEL SEMENTI, said four of the five machines required to kick-start fabric production have already been installed.
And, Central Province Permanent Secretary MILNER MWANAKAMPWE said Government is finally reopening Mulungushi Textiles after years of it being associated with unfulfilled campaign promises by past administrations.
Dr. MWANAKAMPWE said the textile company will create more than 10,000 jobs through direct employment and agriculture outgrower schemes.
