Mulungushi Textiles to resume production in January

Production at the Mulungushi Textiles in Kabwe, Central province, is expected to start in January 2025.

Finance Minister, SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE says this follows the progress made in installation of new equipment, which was recently imported into the country.

Dr. MUSOKOTWANE says the revival of Mulungushi Textiles is a government programme to ensure that Kabwe is resurrected economically.

Speaking after he checked on the installation of equipment at the Textile today, Dr. MUSOKOTWANE said a 200 Mega Watt solar plant is being built to ensure continuous power supply when production starts.

And Zambia-China Mulungushi Textiles General Manager, EMMANUEL SIMENTI disclosed that so far, installation of one of the two imported machines has been completed.

Brigadier-General SIMENTI said two sheds have also been completed while dismantling of old equipment has been accomplished.
