Mumba assures vulnerable households of relief
ZANIS – Luapula Province Permanent Secretary MIGHTY MUMBA says the government will ensure all affected households access the Drought Emergency Cash Transfer.
Mr MUMBA said this in a speech read on his behalf by Mansa District Commissioner IREEN CHIVWETA.
This was during the flagging off of payments for beneficiaries of the Drought Emergency Cash Transfer in Musankata Village in Mansa.
Mr MUMBA says under the emergency cash transfer, the province has 71,758 beneficiaries with Mansa representing about 15,073 beneficiaries.
He adds that Luapula Province has 158,434 beneficiaries on social cash transfer of which Mansa represents 21,010 beneficiaries.
And Chilyapa Ward Councillor SAMUEL MUMBA has cautioned beneficiaries of the emergency cash transfer to utilise the funds prudently.
Speaking at the same event, Luapula Province Senior Social Welfare Officer ELIZABETH NKONGA said the money being disbursed is for those affected by drought.
Meanwhile, one of the beneficiaries MONICA CHILIMA has thanked the government for introducing the programme and selecting eligible Zambians without discrimination.
EMMANUEL CHINAMA, a headman who represented other headmen, has expressed gratitude to the government for the emergency social cash transfer.
