MUTATI presents Cyber Security Bill to replace 2021 Act

Technology and Science Minister FELIX MUTATI has presented the Cyber Security Bill number 29 of 2024 in the National Assembly.
Mr. MUTATI says the Bill is meant to repeal and replace the Cyber Securities and Crimes Act of 2021.
He says the Bill also proposes the establishment of the Zambia Security Agency and its functions.
Mr. MUTATI says the Bill further aims to put in place mechanisms for the regulation of Cyber Security Service providers.
The Bill has since passed first reading in the National Assembly and has been referred to the Committee on Media, Information and Communication Technologies.
The Committee has been asked to present a report on December 5, 2024.
Meanwhile, Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister JACK MWIIMBU has presented the Cyber Crimes Bill.
Mr. MWIIMBU says the Bill provides for offences related to computers and computer systems.
He says the Bill also seeks to protect persons against Cyber Crimes and proposes Child online protection.
The Bill has since passed first reading and has been referred to the Committee on National Security and Foreign Affairs.
