Mutti Awarded

Speaker of the National Assembly NELLY MUTTI has been awarded the 2024 Public recognition award at the just ended EurAsian Women’s Conference in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Ms. MUTTI has been awarded for her immense contribution in championing rights for women and being the first female Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia.

The Speaker has championed the transformation of the Zambia Parliamentary Women Caucus into a full Committee of Parliament, since assuming the office of Speaker on September 3, 2021.

And speaking after receiving the award, Ms. MUTTI reiterated her call to have proportional representation entrenched in the Constitution as an affirmative action to have more women in Parliament and other leadership positions across the governance spectrum.

The Conference which was being held under the theme “Women for strengthening Trust and global cooperation” attracted over one thousand five hundred participants from one hundred countries from across the globe and had one recipient of the public recognition
award.
