
Mutti Meets Museveni Over DRC Instability
Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, NELLY MUTTI is concerned with the security situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo- DRC.
Ms MUTTI was speaking when she met Uganda’s President, YOWERI MUSEVENI on the need to resolve the conflict in the DRC.
She has requested for the support and goodwill of the Ugandan Government in pursuit of lasting peace and stability in the region.
Ms MUTTI said the recent resurgence of the M23 armed group and subsequent capture of the City of Goma in North Kivu province and also Bukavu in South Kivu province has continued to cause instability and cross-border tensions.
She met President MUSEVENI in her capacity as the sitting President of the Forum of Parliament of Member States of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region.
And President MUSEVENI emphasized the need for leaders not to practice sectarian governance that excludes other citizens as that has the potential to ignite insecurity.
