Mwiimbu Calls for Disciplinary Action Against Erring Officers
By Hannock Kasama
Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister Jack Mwiimbu has urged the Zambia Police Service to take disciplinary action against erring officers.
Mr. Mwiimbu has bemoaned the culture of indiscipline among some police officers, saying it is embarrassing.
He cited some erring police officers recently reported for allegedly raping a suspect in Rufunsa district and releasing suspects in Lusaka’s Kanyama area.
Mr. Mwiimbu emphasized that discipline must be a bedrock of professionalism in the service.
He said this in Lusaka last night during the Annual Ball for Superior Police Officers.
The Annual Ball was held under the theme “Zambia Police Service: Working with the Community for Effective Service Delivery.”
Meanwhile, Inspector General Graphel Musamba said the Zambia Police Service is committed to upholding the rule of law, professionalism, and innovativeness in its operations.
Mr. Musamba also said the Zambia Police Service had scored a number of achievements in its operations last year.
He cited that working with the Southern Africa Region Police Chiefs Operations Organisation (SARPCCO) managed to recover 200 thousand dollars and 29 kilograms of gold diverted through transitional crime.
Meanwhile, 2024 Superior Police Officers Organising Committee Chairperson Yobe Luhana praised those who financially contributed to the successful hosting of the event.
