Nalumango calls on church to translate bible in many local languages

Vice President Mutale Nalumango has urged the church in Zambia to translate the bible into various local languages.

Mrs. Nalumango says this will ensure that every Zambian has access to the gospel.

The Vice President said this when she officiated at the launch and dedication of the Senga oral new testament bible by the Bible and Literature Translation Association at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka today.

Mrs. Nalumango said the launch of the Senga oral bible aligns with Zambia’s identity as a Christian Nation.

She stated that the launch of the bible is not about the promotion of a particular tribe or language but that every Zambian should have access to the word of God.

Mrs. Nalumango noted that the introduction of the bible in local languages will  bring spiritual renewal and social transformation.

And, Bible Literature Translation Association Jackson Katete said the Association is coordinating the translation of the bible into 13 languages in the country.

Fr. Katete said the Association started with Senga language and it is its hope to have the bible translated into all mother tongues.
