Ten Zambians have been deported from Namibia for various offences, including assault, escape from lawful custody, and stock theft.
Additionally, several others were apprehended for illegally entering Namibia.
The Department of Immigration Public Relations Officer, Namati Nshinka, informed ZNBC News that the Katima Mulilo Border Control received the deportees.
In a related development, the Kafue Immigration Office facilitated the removal of 19 Zimbabwean nationals from Zambia via the Chirundu Border Control. This occurred after they paid court fines for various immigration offences.
Mr. Nshinka further reported that his office also transferred 15 foreign nationals to Lusaka. These included seven Burundians, two Congolese, two Malawians, two Rwandese, one Tanzanian, and one Zimbabwean.
Meanwhile, the Lusaka Magistrate Court convicted and sentenced a 27-year-old Congolese refugee, Patrick Rukundo, to a fine of 10,000 Kwacha or eight months of simple imprisonment for residing outside a refugee settlement without authorization.
Mr. Rukundo, based at the Mayukwayukwa Refugee Camp, was apprehended on February 14, 2025, in Matero during a routine clean-up operation when he failed to produce a valid mobility pass.
