Nanjuwa concerned with teenage pregnancies
Southern Province Minister, CREDO NANJUWA, says the New Dawn Government has prioritised the health and wellbeing of adolescents in the country.
Mr. NANJUWA says this is being done through various interventions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals – SDGs.
He said this when he officiated at the Solutions for Supporting Healthy Adolescents and Rights Protection – SHARP annual reflection meeting.
Mr NANJUWA however expressed concern that Southern Province accounts for 42.5 percent of teenage pregnancies, the highest Zambia.
Speaking at the same event, Health Action International Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights – SRHR Coordinator, ANGE MORAY, said the SHARP project is a key pillar of multi-stakeholder engagement in tackling adolescent issues.
And Medicines Research and Access Platform – MedRAP Executive Director, LIYOKA LIYOKA, said up to eight-hundred women, mainly adolescents, die everyday globally as a result of pregnancies and SRH related morbidities.
