President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says government will actualise the establishment of the National Defence University.
President HICHILEMA says plans for a National Defence University have been there and government will make it a reality soon.
He has directed Secretary to the Cabinet PATRICK KANGWA to spearhead the process.
Speaking during the launch of a book titled ‘The Art of War and Peace’ at the Defence Services Command and Staff College in Lusaka today, President HICHILEMA also promised that government will build a bigger facility for the college to operate from.
He said the current facilities at the Defence Services Command and Staff College are not adequate for the number of students being attracted from the region and elsewhere.
The President also directed soldiers to maintain peace for sustainable development to flourish.
President HICHILEMA said there cannot be development in the nation in the absence of peace.
Meanwhile, Defence Services Command and Staff College Commandant PHILIMON SAMATAMBA thanked President HICHILEMA for his continued efforts in maintaining peace in the region.
Brigadier General SAMATAMBA said President HICHILEMA’s presence at the launch of the book signifies his commitment to peace building.
Meanwhile, co-author of the book, GREG MILLS said militaries across the world must plan for war and peace at the same time.
Dr. MILLS said maintenance of peace is cardinal for the existence of humanity.
