National Water Supply and Sanitation Council Board re-appointed
Water Development and Sanitation Minister COLLINS NZOVU has re-appointed the National Water Supply and Sanitation Council Board for a further period of 3 years following its execution of its mandate in the previous tenure.
The Previous tenure came to an end on January 4th this year.
Mr NZOVU has since directed the Board to maximise the use of its governance tools and other self-regulatory mechanisms to maintain the highest standards of integrity and accountability.
He has also directed the Board to develop assessment tools that will be used to monitor the performance of all Boards in the commercial utilities and provide regular updates to his office.
Mr NZOVU has further ordered the Board to strengthen financial management and accountability in the water supply and sanitation sector in order to improve service provision to all people.
The Minister was speaking at the National Water Supply and Sanitation Council offices, when he held an engagement meeting with the Board.
And NWASCO Board Chairperson, SYLVESTER HIBAJENE thanked the Minister for the opportunity he has accorded the Board members to continue serving and the confidence he has indicated that the Board will rise to occasion.
Mr. HIBAJENE said the Board is committed to ensuring that it fulfills its role of enforcing enhanced financial management and accountability in the commercial utilities for improved service provision.
