Naughty Nurses to be disciplined

Investigations have been instituted into the unprofessional conduct of some nurses and midwives  who have openly confessed negligence on social media.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia says the confessions amount to negligence of duty on the part of the nurses and the midwives, who are featured in the video.

Council Public Relations Officer, MAILESI BANDA confirmed the investigations, however saying the respective Facebook posting, dubbed WE LISTEN, WE DO NOT JUDGE – NURSES EDITION is unfortunate.

Ms BANDA has explained that the confessions are against the code of ethics for nurses and midwives, adding that the unprofessional conduct has brought disrepute to the integrity of the nursing and midwifery profession.

She has further stated that all the nurses and midwives who took part will be disciplined accordingly, as their action is in breach of the code of ethics for their profession.

Ms BANDA has since urged members of the public to report complaints related to negligence from nurses and midwives to the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia.
