Nkana Water owes ZESCO K120m
Nkana Water and Sanitation Company says it owes ZESCO over 120 million Kwacha in unpaid electricity bills incurred over the last five years.
Managing Director STEVEN MWALE says the bills have been accumulating due to the inability by customers to pay water bills.
Mr. MWALE said on average Nkana Water collects about 61 percent in revenue from water bills which translates to about 500,000 Kwacha.
Speaking during a stakeholder’s tour of Nkana Water infrastructure to appreciate the challenges of the utility, Mr. MWALE explained that on a monthly basis the utility firm uses electricity amounting to 3 million Kwacha.
Mr. MWALE said this results in the company incurring a loss of 2.5 million Kwacha
