The Ministry of Heath has assured the public that there is no immediate danger of the country running out of HIV treatment medication.
This follows a 90-day pause on funding of International Development Programmes, including Zambian programmes on January 20, 2025 by the United States Government.
Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary, Donor Coordination GEORGE SINYANGWE says the country has 5 months of stock of life-saving medicines in warehouses and 14 months of stock in orders already placed.
Dr. SINYANGWE says there should be no panic and misinformation regarding the state of affairs as every effort will be made to ensure that there are no disruptions to HIV and TB-related services.
In a statement to ZNBC News, Dr. SINYANGWE said Zambians will continue to be updated in an event of any new developments in real time.
He said government will continue working with the American Government to understand or define what the package under health includes.
Dr. SINYANGWE said the Ministry of Health has also been informed that medicines already ordered will not in any way be affected.
